The Hanover Little Theatre celebrated its 75th season in 2023–24 and finished up the year of celebrations with proclamations from State Rep. Kate Klunk and State Sen. Kristin Phillips-Hill during the theatre’s June production of Monsters! A Midlife Musical Meltdown.
Before the proverbial curtain raised, Rep. Klunk presented members of the theatre board with an official proclamation from her office as well as one from Sen. Phillips-Hill. These documents will become a permanent part of Pennsylvania’s legislative history.
The Hanover Little Theatre (once known as the Hanover Community Players) started in 1949 as a group of volunteers interested in theatre. It wasn’t until 1959 that the group’s permanent home was opened with the first performance at the current location at 360 Blooming Grove Road, in what had been a two-room schoolhouse.
In addition to providing live theatre to the community, HLT supports other nonprofits by donating a portion of its proceeds from its first Saturday performance. By the end of the theatre’s 75th season, the all-volunteer group will have given nearly $20,000 to the local community.
HLT is committed to its next 75 years and its mission to bring live theatre to Hanover and the surrounding communities.
