Andrea Stephenson, the director of MONSTERS! A Musical Meltdown, is on the look out for musicians for this musical that captures the humor, agony and insight experienced at life’s milestones
Specifically, we’re looking for:
- Piano/keyboard 1,
- Keyboard 2,
- Electric bass, and
- Drums.
Ideally the Piano/keyboard 1 would act as the conductor as well as the rehearsal pianist to get to know the tricky rhythms in this show. The conductor would be responsible for arranging rehearsals for the band members separate from the cast but a ton of rehearsals shouldn’t be needed.
A pianist for auditions is also needed. Auditions are 7 p.m., March 25 and 26 with callbacks, if needed, on March 27, at HLT, 360 Blooming Grove Road, Hanover. The audition pianist needs to be decent at sight-reading for auditioners who bring sheet music.
The show dates are June 7-9 and 13-16 (matinee).
In this musical, Samantha who is turning 40 wants to quit her Wall Street job and go for a soul-searching adventure in Machu Picchu. Despite her resolve, her insecurities descend on her like a pack of demons, who want to derail her new ambitions and to protect their own demon status. Samantha is dragged into a hilarious showdown of wills and determination, but in the end, she wins, with a revelation that shocks and delights her (and the audience). Charged with energetic music and side-splitting lyrics, MONSTERS asks: Have you faced your demons? We can’t necessarily destroy them, but we can laugh at them and put them in their place.
