In the 2012 version of Godspell, a small group of people help Jesus Christ tell different parables by using a wide variety of games, storytelling techniques, and a hefty dose of comic timing. A unique blend of musical styles to tell the story of Jesus’ life that dissolves hauntingly into the Last Supper and the Crucifixion. Jesus’ messages of kindness, tolerance, and love come vibrantly to life in this musical featuring songs by Stephen Schwartz.
The cast, with many newcomers to the HLT stage, includes: Matt Hirsh as Jesus, Mathew Barninger as Judas, and Heather Brown, Alyssa Byers, Sara Myers, Paul Norfolk, Lindsay Ringquist, Louis Salazar, Josh Schriver, Ali Stratton, and Elizabeth “Buff” Wills.
Behind the scenes HLT Board Member Deborah Williams worked as both director and choreographer with Vanessa Rice as music director and Nancy Wege as stage manager.
Our nonprofit partner for the show is Compassionate Crafters. HLT will donate $2 for each ticket sold to the Saturday, Nov. 12 performance to this group which donates knitted baby items, prayer shawls, caps and scarves to oncology patients, and more. Matching donations from an anonymous patron and Sommer and O’Donnell – Attorneys at Law will boost the total donation to $6 per seat. We will also accept donations from patrons at each performance.
